1. Who we are
EventCentral is a global directory for academic, professional and community events, owned and operated by Solutioned Limited, and is regulated in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of data-protection law, Solutioned Limited is the data controller for personal data processed through eventcentral.me.
We take privacy seriously and handle personal data in line with UK data-protection law — the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018 — and, where relevant, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).
2. What we collect
We collect the following kinds of personal data:
Information you give us
- Account details - your name and email address when you register, and a password (stored only in hashed form) if you sign up with email.
- Sign-in provider data - if you sign in with Google, Microsoft, LinkedIn or Facebook, we receive basic profile details from that provider, typically your name and email address, to create or match your account.
- Event submissions - the details you provide when listing an event, including contact details you choose to publish.
- Alert preferences - the topics, locations or searches you ask us to send you email alerts about.
- Messages - anything you send us when you contact us by email or through a form.
Information we collect automatically
- Usage data - basic information about how you use the site, such as pages visited and links clicked, used to understand and improve the service.
- Technical data - your IP address, browser type and similar details that your device shares when it connects to our servers.
Payment information
If you buy an optional paid placement, payment is handled by our payment processor. We receive confirmation of payment and limited transaction details, but we do not store your full card number.
3. How we use your data
- to create and manage your account and authenticate you when you sign in;
- to publish and manage the event listings you submit;
- to send the email alerts you've subscribed to, and service messages about your account;
- to respond to your enquiries;
- to operate, secure, analyse and improve the site, including compiling aggregated, non-identifying statistics;
- to process payments for optional paid placements;
- to meet legal obligations and protect against fraud or misuse.
4. Legal bases for processing
Depending on the activity, we rely on one or more of the following legal bases:
- Contract - to provide the account and listing services you ask for.
- Consent - for example, when you subscribe to email alerts or where we use non-essential cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests — to run, secure and improve the site, where this is not overridden by your rights.
- Legal obligation - where we must process data to comply with the law.
5. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your preferences, keep the site secure, and understand how it's used so we can improve it. Essential cookies are needed for the site to work; others are optional. You can control or delete cookies through your browser settings, though disabling essential cookies may stop parts of the site from working.
6. Who we share your data with
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed to run the service, with providers who act on our instructions, and where the law requires it:

Where you choose to publish contact details in an event listing, those details are public by design.
7. How long we keep your data
We keep personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the service, then for any further period required to meet legal, accounting or dispute-resolution needs. When data is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it. You can ask us to delete your account at any time.
8. International transfers
Some of our providers may process data outside the United Kingdom or the European Economic Area. Where that happens, we take steps to ensure your data is protected to a standard consistent with UK data-protection law - for example by using providers in countries recognised as offering adequate protection, or by putting appropriate safeguards (such as standard contractual clauses) in place.
9. Your rights
Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- ask us to correct data that is inaccurate or incomplete;
- ask us to delete your data in certain circumstances;
- object to, or ask us to restrict, certain processing;
- receive a copy of certain data in a portable format;
- withdraw consent where we rely on it, without affecting processing already carried out.

10. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data - including encrypting traffic to the site, storing passwords only in hashed form, and limiting who can access personal data. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to respond appropriately if something goes wrong.
11. Children
EventCentral is intended for an adult, professional and academic audience and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, please contact us and we'll remove it.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the service or the law changes. When we do, we'll update the "last updated" date above, and we'll highlight significant changes on the site where appropriate.
